Mr. Donaldson is principal of BDA, which provides services in architecture, building technology, energy/environmental planning, and construction consulting, with an emphasis on sustainable design. BDA works with a number of Fortune 100 clients including DuPont, Dow Chemical, The United States Gypsum Company, The Trane Company, Johnson Controls, Rio Tinto, United Technologies, and others. Clients include the U.S. Department of Energy, NYSERDA, The Durst Organization, Vornado Development, Tishman Speyer Properties and others.

Mr. Donaldson is a licensed architect and a member of AIA, ASHRAE and USGBC. He is a past chairman and a member of the Board of the Intelligent Buildings Institute in Washington, D.C., as well as a founding member of the Industry Alliance for Interoperability and a past member of the National Institute of Building Sciences, the Steering Group of the Council on Tall Buildings, and the Producers Advisory Form. Mr. Donaldson has been a lecturer/visiting design critic at Yale University, Columbia University, Cooper Union, Pratt Institute, NJIT and others, and has published a number of books including two ASTM publications on exterior wall systems and the ASHRAE Centennial book on the history of the HVAC industry.
