The design of the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo., called for an open, fresh environment and for the facility to be sustainable and achieve LEED certification. The campus consists of a main 136-bed regional medical center offering a full spectrum of services with specialties in cardiac and trauma care and two other buildings housing physician offices, outpatient services and a surgery center.
To accomplish its aesthetic goals, the facility was constructed of brick, native sandstone and Profile Series metal panels from CENTRIA. To create a unified look and feel, similar products from the manufacturer were used on all three buildings.
The Profile Series IW Series uses concealed panel fasteners, which gives the building a clean, unbroken appearance. The use of MicroSeam corners further adds to the structure's clean lines. In addition, the panels are also Cradle to Cradle Silver certified.
The metal panels all-weather installation capabilities also helped shorten the installation time and minimize delays, permitting fast track scheduling, which was critical in a construction process that spanned two years in the Colorado Rockies.
The hospital, with state-of-the-art technology including robotic-assisted surgical arms, an electronic health records system and advanced in-room telecommunications, has achieved LEED Gold certification and is one of the few LEED-certified hospitals in the nation.
