An update to AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-08, NAFS -- North American Fenestration Standard/Specification for windows, doors, and skylights is now available for electronic download from the
American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA).
Update No. 1 includes editorial revisions to the 137 pages standard/specification published in January 2008, says Ken Brenden, AAMA technical standards manager.
“Minor updates have been made to the 2008 standard, including revisions to Clause 4.3.2.1, Table 27 and Figure 24,” Brenden says. Revisions were also made to Pages 29, 30, 75, 76 and 111-116. Those pages are available as replacement pages, according to AAMA.
In the Update #1 Clause 4.3.2.1, which outlines testing requirements for optional performance grades (PG), an additional specimen will undergo all applicable tests in Clause 5 if it is wider or taller than the original specimen. This is a slight modification to the January 2008 standard, which states all applicable tests will be performed if the additional specimen is wider and taller than the original specimen.
Clarification of the primary product designator has been made in Figure 24 showing an example of a test report summary and Table 27, which charts gateway performance requirements, also notes minor revisions. The replacement pages included in Update #1 can be inserted into copies of the January specification and the removed pages may be kept for reference if necessary.
