Lindsay Audin is president of EnergyWiz, an energy consulting firm based in Croton, N.Y. He is a contributing editor to Building Operating Management and has 30-plus years of energy industry experience as a consultant, customer, and energy supplier. As consultant to several large suppliers, he has an in-depth knowledge of the energy services industry. While energy manager for Columbia University (1988-1996), he reduced the University’s energy bills by more than $3 million a year through a combination of energy efficiency and aggressive procurement of fuels and electricity. In 1992, he founded the New York Energy Buyers Forum, a non-profit organization of large energy users working together for lower energy rates. For 13 years prior to Columbia, he served New York area consulting and manufacturing firms in a variety of energy-related positions, including as a department head and business partner.
