Technicians also can enter warranty information into the CMMS database for each asset, including equipment and spare parts. This information should include the length and nature of the warranty.

Each time a manager or supervisor issues a work order for an asset under warranty, the CMMS sends a message stating the equipment is covered. This step gives managers a chance to decide whether to go ahead with the repair and get reimbursed or let the vendor perform the repair. In time, this process can save the organization hundreds of thousands of dollars.
