Professional Development
Competency Credits
Allow students the option to submit applicable experience & education to gain additional credits towards a professional designation.
Terms of applicable experience:
- Experience comes from “on the job” and/or previous education
- Students can receive up to three courses each in the RPA and FMA programs and up to two SMT and one SMA course unless otherwise noted.
Students can apply for competency in three ways:
Administrative:
- Process of application for course credit by applying specific academic courses from accredited colleges and universities an/or completion of certain training programs
- Must be within the past 7 years
- Must have at least ‘C” passing grade in each applicable course
Review:
- Combination of professional and education experience to gain credits toward designation
- Education must be completed within the past 7 years
- Must have 3 references
- Competency by Review will not be awarded to any student that has previously registered for the course.
Cluster:
- Student is given credit for a group of BOMI International courses based on academic & professional achievement.

Continuing Professional Designation Requirement (CPD)
Designation graduates who want to keep their status current must have 18 CPD points every 3 years.
Ways to earn their 18 points can include:
- BOMI classes (worth 18 points)
- “Ethics is Good Business” short course (6 points)
- BOMI webcasts (1 point per hour)
- Current / Active Real Estate license & renewals (for most US states)
- Course credits
- Industry Experience; publish an article in a national journal, presenting a paper
- Trade association membership
- Board committee membership
- Serve as an Instructor or Technical Reviewer

Continuing Education Credits (CEU)
Licensed real estate agents are able to complete their continuing education requirement by taking BOMI International courses

BOMI International’s U.S. designation courses can earn college credit as recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service
