WoodTrac Ceiling System Receives Class-A Fire Rating

ARCHBOLD, Ohio – WoodTrac is pleased to announce the expansion of their Ceiling System product offering with the addition of Class-A panels.

“We initially launched the product for residential use but have received many requests to use it in commercial spaces,” said Jonathan Zublena, product manager for WoodTrac. “While Class C fire-rated panels are sufficient for most applications, we wanted to provide a Class A product to meet our customer’s needs.”

Wingate-3.tifAccording to International Building Codes (IBC), Class C ceiling products are acceptable in most corridors, rooms and enclosed spaces with fire suppressing sprinkler systems.  Non-sprinklered areas require a higher fire rating and many corridors and rooms specify a minimum of Class A or B products.  To meet this requirement, WoodTrac developed a Class A panel for its suspended ceiling system.

“WoodTrac ceilings work well for retrofit applications in the commercial market,” says Brent Buehrer, vice president of architecture firm, Buehrer Group. “These ceilings can change the entire look and feel of a space, giving it a formal appearance at an economical cost.  Adding the Class-A fire rated panels makes them even more marketable.”

The fire-rated ceiling panels are available in three different finishes, including Abbey Oak, Bank Alder, and White/Paintable. Panels can be installed in any 2’x2’ or 2’x4’ suspended ceiling. In addition, WoodTrac has provided three profiles of moldings: Tear Drop, Colonial, and Cove. Moldings can be installed over any 15/16” or 1” wide ceiling grid.  Panels can be combined with any molding profile and molding finish to match the consumer’s desired look.  Class A panels are made of 3/8” thick fire rated board laminated on both sides with high definition micropaper.

WoodTrac ceiling systems come with patented clips that snap on to the grid during installation. In addition, they come with a five-year warranty, ensuring their durability and sustainability.
