Vandal Resistant Luminaire Combines Design with Photometrics

Luminaire LED, an established manufacturer of vandal resistant and confinement lighting solutions for commercial, institutional and transit environments, has released the Blade egress series. The Blade is a mullion mount, path of egress luminaire with an architectural aesthetic that visually blends into the structure when mounted above a door or walkway.

The Blade combines a sleek and angular, patent pending design to complement current architecture, and a precise optical diffuser to achieve full cut-off optics to reduce light pollution. The advanced optical package also enables forward throw illumination for path of egress compliance.

Featuring an integrated quick-mount system that facilitates installation and maintenance, the Blade can be mounted over a doorway or on mullions as narrow as 2.5 inches. Multiple lengths are available to match different door openings.

Constructed with a marine-grade aluminum extruded housing, polycarbonate lens, and die-cast aluminum end plates, the Blade is protected by Luminaire LED’s lifetime warranty against vandalism. It is wet location listed and is designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions with an optional emergency battery pack that can be integrated into the fixture’s housing. Redundant drivers are also available to satisfy certain local codes. The Blade is available with multiple energy saving options such as an occupancy sensor and photocell.

“The Blade draws on over forty years experience in designing vandal resistant luminaires,” said Ron Lipson, president at Luminaire LED. “It combines a careful selection of materials and construction know-how to deliver an extremely durable product with superior photometrics.”
