Suburban Chicago Senior Housing Facility Adopts All-Digital First Responder Pre-Plan Technology
Lincolnwood, Ill. — Jan. 28, 2015 — Lincolnwood Place, a Senior Lifestyle Corp. facility, has announced the adoption of first responder technology CommandScope to assist in emergencies. CommandScope, developed by Chicago-based RealView, LLC, is a pre-plan technology that provides first responders with critical knowledge of buildings and its occupants.
Lincolnwood Place is one of 110 communities and facilities Senior Lifestyle owns across 23 states. It will benefit from the CommandScope pre-plan installation that provides first responders with instant en route access to site plans, floor plans, hazardous material details, utility shut-off locations, geographical maps, fire hydrants locations, residents with special needs, and other critical building data.
A study completed last May by St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minn., focused on the well-being of residents of assisted living facilities. The study found the facility characteristic most important to the residents' sense of wellbeing was their feeling that the environment was safe, wrote study author Courtney J. Wright.
"CommandScope is a critical component of our emergency planning," said Regina Umansky, executive director of Lincolnwood Place. "This is a smart, cost-effective investment in the safety of our residents. It also is a great tool for the first responders in our community."
The adoption also makes Lincolnwood Place one of the first assisted living communities in the nation to implement a complete pre-plan program.
"It is imperative for first responders to get critical information immediately and coherently,” Deputy Fire Chief Ray White said. “CommandScope provides user-friendly technology that assists responders and protects all stakeholders. First responders can act with knowledge, saving both lives and property. We now have Lincolnwood Place pre-plan program on our Lincolnwood Fire Department computers, including our mobile data terminals on our vehicles. In the event of an incident, the pre-plan program can be viewed immediately on the way to the incident as well as upon arrival.”
