Solais: Lighting Company Helps Online Sensation Nasty Gal Bring New Retail Stores to Light

Aug. 25, 2015 — Solais Lighting, Inc., a manufacturer of specification-grade LED fixtures and lamps and a division of PowerSecure International, Inc., announced that its Xi24 LED fixtures were selected as a lighting technology of record by Nasty Gal/ The latter is a leading online retailer of chic, on-trend women’s clothing and accessories that recently opened its first two brick-and-mortar stores in the Los Angeles area.

In an effort to “create an art gallery for clothing and accessories,” said Kevin Nolen, director of retail development for Nasty Gal, “we saw store lighting as an extremely important way to attract customers, highlight the merchandise and drive our brand.”

The use of Solais’ 22-watt Xi24 LED trackheads with a 25-degree beam angle, 3500K color temperature, and 1600 lumens delivered the low-profile, fully dimmable LED trackhead solutions and outstanding performance and color characteristics required by discerning, high-end retail outlets like Nasty Gal.

Since installing Solais Xi24 LED technology in both its Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica locations, “the Solais LED trackheads in both of our stores help highlight our products perfectly without being too bright and create a mood that’s ideally suited to the unique look and feel of each location,” Nolen said.

In addition, he said, “We love the color options that are available in the Solais line as well as the flexibility of these fixtures – an important feature to us, because we continually move merchandise to highlight different colors and products. The LED product offerings give us great versatility.”

As Nasty Gal’s hip young demographic continues to respond positively to the company’s inviting new retail locations, Nolen is excited about the role Solais played in helping to create a sustainable and unparalleled in-store shopping experience for the brand’s many devoted customers.

“LED technology has really come around in the last few years, but I’ve seen no competing LEDs that have performed as well as Solais products,” Nolen said. “While our specific lighting needs may change from store to store as we roll out new locations in the future, we consider Solais one of our trusted partners. Solais LEDs will be standard for Nasty Gal.”
