Siemens' new multi-modal mass-notification system gets the message out quickly

Buffalo Grove, Ill. — Sept. 18, 2014 — Desigo Mass Notification from the Building Technologies Division of Siemens Industry, Inc. is a new, fully integrated multi-modal communication system that can be used in a single building or across a large campus for communicating a series of emergency and non-emergency messages.

Combining varied message-delivery methods, from visual warnings to audible alerts, creates a multi-layered communication approach and increases the likelihood of recipients responding appropriately and effectively to life-safety events.

Desigo Mass Notification streamlines both routine and critical communication by blending a clear user interface with predefined scenarios and customizable messages. Operators use a centralized dashboard and a consistent workflow-based interface to manage, track, and review multiple emergency incidents. Messages can be targeted to specific zones, individuals, groups, or devices.

Part of a Total Building Solution, the mass-notification system is compatible with Siemens’ Desigo CC building management station. It integrates premise-based safety, security, and communication infrastructure with today’s most common web-based modalities to relay important messages. Flexible and scalable, this easy-to-use solution helps facilities make the most of their existing infrastructure, allowing them to grow and expand with changing system requirements.

Desigo Mass Notification’s open architecture supports current enhanced functionality as well as future technology of text-to-speech engines, bulk service messaging, dynamic signage, and other services from recognized domain experts. This eliminates costly manual processes while improving communication efficiency.

Desigo Mass Notification is yet another of Siemens’ new emergency voice communication and mass-notification offerings, compatible with the Desigo CC product line. Earlier this year, Siemens unveiled its Intelligent Voice Communication systems, which deliver fire protection, digital voice communication, and mass-notification functionality through a single panel in the Desigo Fire Safety and Cerberus PRO portfolios.
