Reckson/SL Green Goes Electric

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Mark

Latest Sustainability Initiative

White Plains, NY – Reckson, a Division of SL Green (NYSE: SLG), has announced the next step in its market-leading environmental program:  the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 17 suburban commercial office properties.

These state-of-the-art facilities were installed at five New York properties, including 360 Hamilton Avenue, 140/150 Grand Street in White Plains, and 100, 200 and 500 Summit Lake Drive in Valhalla.  Connecticut properties including Landmark Square and 680, 750, 1010 and 1055 Washington Blvd in Stamford are also equipped with the charging stations.

“Reckson/SL Green continues to provide its tenants with a best-in-class experience, offering unique portfolio amenities through cutting edge technology,” said John Barnes, Reckson/SL Green senior vice president and managing director who added that this proactive approach will ensure the infrastructure is in place as demand for charging stations continues to rise.

As part of Reckson/SL Green’s ongoing sustainability program that is committed to providing high quality tenant experience and healthier work environments, this program is designed to benefit tenants who own both electric vehicles that run solely on electric power, as well as plug-in hybrid electric cars (PHEV’s), which combine battery and gas-powered technology.  Standard electric vehicles offer ranges between 60-90 miles and luxury models offer ranges as much as 265 miles.  PHEV’s offer a range of 11-35 miles on electric before automatically switching to a gas-powered engine providing an additional range of 345-525 miles.

Reckson selected ChargePoint, the  largest international network of EV charging stations with over 12,000 public charging stations worldwide, to provide its dual electric vehicle charging equipment, allowing two EV owners to charge simultaneously.  Owners who set up ChargePoint accounts to take advantage of the stations benefit from other program amenities including electronic billing and email notification for space availability and EV charge completion.

“With interest in EVs continuing to grow, we are pleased to expand our sustainability initiatives that benefit our tenants, partnering with ChargePoint to provide this critical equipment in supporting of the use of high efficiency vehicles,” according to Jay Black, Reckson/SL Green director of sustainability, who added that according to national statistics, EVs with a range of 60 miles could satisfy 83 percent of America’s daily driving needs, while a range of 120 miles could satisfy 95 percent.
