Partnership Aims to Enhance IIoT

Tridium Inc. has announced a new Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology solution developed in collaboration with Dell and Intel Corporation that Tridium will offer manufacturers. The IIoT solution is built on the Niagara Framework, Tridium’s open technology platform, and combines software and consulting services to help customers begin the digital transformation of their businesses.

Announced at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), the Niagara-based IIoT solution built with Dell and Intel technology will comprise a complete hardware and software stack delivered as a finished solution for ease of adoption, and will encompass consulting services from subject matter experts to support implementation. The application layer of the IIoT solution is being developed and supported by Tridium and will expand over time with solutions designed for the telecom and energy sectors.

“This integrated approach to IIoT removes the burden on customers of having to build solutions from scratch, and provides the expertise they need so they can focus on outcomes,” said Jim Bland, president and general manager, Tridium. “The Niagara platform has been used for facility management in industrial environments for many years, and now Niagara is being used on the plant floor to provide insights to improve operational efficiency in diverse manufacturing environments, including by Honeywell Aerospace.”

The tightly integrated combination of people, processes and technologies from Tridium, Dell and Intel gives customers the ability to connect to diverse edge data sources, receive insights from the data and achieve desired outcomes at an accelerated rate.

“Manufacturers need to focus on achieving their business goals – improving operational efficiency and product quality, identifying new insights and growth margins – integrating diverse technology solutions and processes across the edge to the core to the cloud. Finding high performance industrial solutions suitable for the harsh environments of the manufacturing or factory space had been challenging before,” said Bryan E. Jones, senior vice president and general manager, OEM & IoT Solutions, Dell EMC. “Through this IoT technology collaboration with Tridium and Intel, we will offer manufacturers a complete IoT solution based on our deep, collective expertise with flexible deployment and financing options, so they can realize their goals and accelerate the return on their investment.”

“IoT industrial solutions that bring the power of the data center to the edge enable businesses to process and analyze data much faster and extract actionable, real-time insights they can use immediately,” said Christine Boles, vice president, IoT Group general manager, Industrial Solutions Division at Intel. “This solution highlights our IoT partner ecosystem strategy of bringing edge analytics capabilities to manufacturers to unlock new levels of automation and computerization to optimize production, improve safety, perform predictive maintenance, and more.”
