PPG: Company Debuts Web Content for SageGlass on ppgideascapes.com
Pittsburgh — May 19, 2016 — PPG has posted new content to ppgideascapes.com highlighting products and technology available from its new alliance partner SageGlass, a Minnesota-based manufacturer of the world’s smartest electrochromic glass.
The new landing page details how electrochromic glass from SageGlass and tinted and low-emissivity (low-e) glasses by PPG can be used on adjacent elements of a building envelope to create an advanced solar-management system for a building façade.
SageGlass tints on demand to enhance occupant comfort and enables views and connection to the outdoors. SageGlass nanotechnology incorporates micro-thin layers of coating applied to the glass and is available in a standard insulating glass unit. When activated by a low-voltage electrical current, the coating darkens, absorbing a portion of the sun’s heat and light, and enabling the glass to tint on demand. SageGlass controls solar glare, minimizes solar heat gain, and enhances the thermal comfort of building occupants.
SOLARBAN and SUNGATE low-emissivity (low-e) glasses by PPG can be specified to provide many of the same benefits on sections of the building envelope that do not require the dynamic switching capabilities of electrochromic glass.
The landing page also highlights the SageGlass color palette, which includes clear, gray, bronze, green, and blue tints that can complement PPG’s performance-tinted glass to provide attractive and highly functional exterior glass building envelopes.
Visitors to the SageGlass product landing page on ppgideascapes.com will find photos and videos that demonstrate how electrochromic glass works, along with links to product guides, performance data, and glass expert directories for each company.
Electronically tintable SageGlass, a product of Saint-Gobain, dynamically optimizes daylight and manages temperature – all while maintaining unobstructed views of the outdoors. With SageGlass, building occupants can comfortably experience the biophilic benefits of the outdoors, including stress reduction, enhanced creativity. and an improved sense of well-being. SageGlass allows architects to elegantly solve solar control challenges without sacrificing aesthetics and design. For more information, visit www.SageGlass.com.
