Pittsburgh — May 19, 2016 — PPG has posted new content to ppgideascapes.com highlighting products and technology available from its new alliance partner SageGlass, a Minnesota-based manufacturer of the world’s smartest electrochromic glass.
The new landing page details how electrochromic glass from SageGlass and tinted and low-emissivity (low-e) glasses by PPG can be used on adjacent elements of a building envelope to create an advanced solar-management system for a building façade.
SageGlass tints on demand to enhance occupant comfort and enables views and connection to the outdoors. SageGlass nanotechnology incorporates micro-thin layers of coating applied to the glass and is available in a standard insulating glass unit. When activated by a low-voltage electrical current, the coating darkens, absorbing a portion of the sun’s heat and light, and enabling the glass to tint on demand. SageGlass controls solar glare, minimizes solar heat gain, and enhances the thermal comfort of building occupants.
