Outdoor Infrared Sensor Boosts Security

Legrand, North & Central America has released the Wattstopper FSP-300 Series Passive Infrared Outdoor Sensor, which adds Bluetooth low energy technology communication to the industry-leading FSP family of occupancy sensors. The FSP-300 Series sensor is designed to add enhanced security while improving commissioning of lighting projects with wireless access, eliminating the need to use ladders or tools. Additionally, Bluetooth low energy technology is less susceptible to environmental interferences, providing greater installation flexibility and use in the field when compared to IR remote technologies.

Ideal for warehouse, parking, and outdoor lighting applications, this sensor provides intensity control of 0-10V LED drivers or ballasts and on/off control of non-dimming ballasts based on motion or daylight contribution. Additionally, photosensor and daylight capabilities add a dusk-to-dawn control option for unmatched sequence of operation flexibility. The FSP-300 Series sensors are available in three models providing different options for mounting inside a fixture, outside a fixture via 1/2” knockout, or to a pole.

The sensor can be easily set up, configured, and customized with the Legrand Sensor Configuration app, which is available on iOS and Android platforms. Sensor profiles can be created, stored, and recalled eliminating the need to input parameters each time. This, along with a host of features like “Jobsite Manager” and “Device Discovery” make configuring every job faster and easier than ever before. The app eliminates the need to purchase other remote hardware and allows contractors to get on and off the job quickly.

The FSP-300 Series sensor comes with all the features and benefits of the FSP line and now includes:

  • Security features that protect device, data, and users from unauthorized access and malicious attacks.
  • Field upgradable firmware for timely updates and features to help with future sensor improvements.
  • Code compliance with latest ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, and California Title 24 outdoor lighting control requirements.
  • IP66 rated with a choice of lenses to ensure complete coverage for mounting heights up to 40 feet.
  • 100-foot commissioning range

“The FSP-300 Series is helping simplify an often complex commissioning process,” said Daniel Stankovich, Wattstopper Product Manager at Legrand. “For fixture manufacturers, Bluetooth low energy technology offers additional specifiable features to increase the value of their lighting fixtures. Electrical contractors will also love this sensor as they are easy to install and configure and provide greater flexibility with the ability to update sensor firmware in the field.”
