Osram Wins Office Design Award from International Interior Design Association

Osram, a global lighting and technology company, has received the Best Office Design Award (over 80,000 square feet) from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), New England Chapter, for the design of its regional headquarters in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Osram unveiled the headquarters in January 2016. The IIDA awards recognize innovative interior design projects throughout New England, and has as members professionals in the design, real estate, construction and engineering industries.

“OSRAM prides itself on developing innovative products and solutions in the field of lighting technology, and therefore we wanted a space to reflect our vision and inspire our employees,” said Grant Wright, CEO of Osram, Americas region. “The new headquarters provides us with an open-concept space that fosters creativity, collaboration and teamwork, with an emphasis on sustainability and efficiency.”

In partnership with architectural firm Sasaki, Osram focused on reinforcing its core motto, “Light is Osram,” in the new workspace. With an emphasis on light as a building material, the new 130,000-square-foot location harnesses the power of natural light, and implements smart technology to lower energy consumption and ultimately costs. By consolidating two of the company’s three facilities in Massachusetts, the headquarters effectively reduced Osram’s carbon footprint and increased building sustainability, while also achieving LEED Gold Certification through the use of LED sources and daylight dimming.

Osram’s Americas headquarters houses 230 employees in various corporate functions, as well as Osram’s Digital Lighting Solutions, Sylvania Lighting Solutions, and research and development activities. The regional headquarters also has been awarded CoreNet Global’s Best Large Renovation (larger than 80,000 square feet), and the International Facilities Management Association’s Achievement Award for Best Practices for large projects.
