NG Advantage Delivers Compressed Natural Gas to Hospitals Not on a Gas Pipeline

NG Advantage LLC announces that the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) in St. Johnsbury, VT will be using compressed natural gas (CNG) to run its facility. Although the hospital is not located on a natural gas pipeline, CNG delivery by NG Advantage using its virtual pipeline will enable NVRH to take advantage of the cost savings and emissions reductions of cleaner burning North American natural gas. NG Advantage delivers CNG by transporting compressed natural gas in high-tech carbon fiber composite trailers over public highways. The CNG will replace fuel oil at the hospital saving money and improving air quality. The change is part of NVRH's commitment to become the first Energy Star rated hospital in Vermont. Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital is a community, not for profit, acute care, critical access hospital. It is the only Vermont hospital designated Baby FriendlyTM by the United Nations. The hospital also received the Vermont Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence and Pollution Prevention in 2006-2007, for its “broad ranging environment friendly initiatives undertaken by a rural hospital.” Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital provides primary and preventive care, surgical and specialty services, inpatient and outpatient care, and 24-hour physician-staffed emergency services. Paul Bengtson, the hospital’s CEO, commented that, “Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital has a list of very aggressive environmental initiatives. The first item on our list is to reduce the emissions from our heating plant. Over 15 years ago, we converted from #4 fuel oil to #2 fuel oil to reduce our sulfur emissions. Now we are taking our commitment a step further in converting to compressed natural gas. CNG will reduce our CO2 emissions by approximately 26% and virtually no particulates will be coming out of our smoke stack. Our number one environmental goal will soon be accomplished.” NG Advantage’s CEO Neale Lunderville applauded Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital on its decision to use CNG saying “Both the hospital’s Mission and Value Statements speak to its commitment to creating an environment which is safe and clean for patients, staff and visitors, while improving the health of all people in the communities it serves. Improving the environment by burning cleaner fuels certainly meets the goals NVRH puts forth.” Lunderville added “In today’s world, keeping the costs that add up to our health care bills as low as possible is also very important. NG Advantage’s customers on average save around 30% off their 2012 fuel bills by converting to CNG. This magnitude of savings certainly helps keep those costs down.” About NG Advantage LLC: NG Advantage LLC is the leading fuel provider trucking compressed natural gas (CNG) in the U.S. – bringing the economic and environmental benefits of North American natural gas to large enterprise customers without access to a pipeline.
