On Thursday, February 16, the two co-chairs of the House Grid Innovation Caucus, Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH) and Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-CA) kicked off a briefing for congressional staff and industry stakeholders by speaking about the importance of modernizing the U.S. electricity system to keep reliable and clean power flowing to America's homes and businesses.
"Our grid is in need of modernization, and there are straightforward steps that Congress can take to streamline the process of building and upgrading electric transmission infrastructure," said NEMA Vice President of Government Relations Kyle Pitsor. "Briefings like this one--on today’s technologies that can make the electric grid more reliable, efficient, and secure while keeping electricity costs low--provides congressional offices with the information they can use in developing policies aimed at improving the performance of the electric grid, which is critical to our everyday lives."
