Kohler Power Systems Releases New 2500 kW Generator

KOHLER, Wis. –  Kohler Power Systems, a manufacturer of generators up to 3250 kilowatts, transfer switches, switchgear and related accessories,  has released a new 2500 kW generator with a V-16 (76-liter) engine.
The new model (2500REOZDC) offers more power density in a smaller footprint (reduced by more than 10 percent) when jobsite space is at a premium. With a 60Hz standby rating, the generator features a new 50C cooling system and heavy-duty air cleaner assembly and durable dual-bearing alternators.  The generator fully integrates with KOHLER automatic transfer switches, custom paralleling switchgear and controls to offer total system integration for any customized emergency power application.
In addition, the KOHLER generator earned International Building Code (IBC) 2012 seismic certification and therefore is ideal for mission-critical operations like hospitals, large data centers and water treatment plants. The 2500 kW also meets NFPA 110 requirements, providing power in less than 10 seconds.
“Seismic certification is an important consideration for engineers and designers of hospitals and other critical-use facilities in many states along the West Coast as well as throughout the U.S. where earthquake occurrences are possible,” says Adam Dykstra, staff engineer for Kohler Power Systems. “It’s crucial for backup emergency power systems to start and remain operational.  KOHLER generators have passed rigorous shake tests conducted at AC156-qualified labs led by a reputable third-party agency and approved by structural and professional engineers to guarantee their reliable performance.”
