Kirberg: Roofing Company Donates $36,000 for New Roof on Women's Shelter

Aug. 11, 2015 — The only thing better than having a roof over your head is having a new roof over your head. And when a new roof was needed at the transitional housing facility run by the Center for Women in Transition in St. Louis, Kirberg Co., one of the Midwest’s largest commercial and residential roofing companies, stepped in and donated $36,000 in materials and labor to get the job done.

“We were delighted to be able to help our friends at the Center for Women in Transition,” said Eric Kirberg, company president. “The center provides a wonderful service here in town, and a new roof was badly needed at its group home on Courtois Street. Now the apartment building will remain open to help hundreds of women for years to come.”

The center assists women in the criminal justice system in making a successful transition to their families and communities by practicing and promoting restorative justice. Residents receive case management, life skills instruction, support and guidance from volunteer mentors, assistance in locating jobs, and assistance with accessing resources, such as substance-abuse treatment, medical and mental healthcare, and education or vocational training. The women at Baker House may remain for up to one year.

“We are all extremely grateful for the generous donation of a complete roof replacement from Kirberg,” said Laura Toledo, executive director for Women in Transition. “A major repair like a new roof is something the budget is never quite prepared for, so this gift from Kirberg is an absolute blessing to our organization and the women we serve.

"We also would like to thank McCarthy Building Company, Murphy Construction, Old Monroe Lumber, and Runge Painting Company, Inc., who also donated time, materials, and talent to the project.”

Kirberg Co. is a professional roofing and related services contractor established in 1920, with extensive experience in commercial and residential roofing of all types. It is headquartered in St. Louis, with offices throughout Missouri and Kansas. For more information, visit Kirberg.com.
