Impact Products: Company Offers Workplace Eye Protection Tips

Toledo, Ohio — March 2, 2016 — Because March is Workplace Eye Wellness Month, Impact Products, a manufacturer of protective eye gear along with other workplace safety products, is offering some tips on ways we can all care for and protect our eyes, whether on the job or on the go.

An estimated 2,000 eye injuries occur in the American workplace each day. Along with pain, suffering, and possible loss of eyesight, these injuries cost U.S. employers an estimated $300 million a year in lost productivity, medical treatment, and workers compensation costs.

"But what many people do not realize is that 90 percent of all workplace eye injuries are preventable with appropriate eye protection," said Jeffery Gayer, vice president, product development & marketing, Impact Products, LLC. "This means we need to do a lot more educating of employers and workers (on) ways they can protect their eyes."

According to Gayer, there are two main reasons for eye injuries on the job:

• Not wearing protective eye gear

• Not wearing the right type of protective eye gear

Protective eye gear is not generic. Workers exposed to specific hazards such as liquid splashes, chemical spills, ultraviolet radiation, flying wood chips or debris, and other types of hazards, need eye gear designed to address these particular risks, Gayer said. "It's crucial to match the eye gear with the potential hazards the worker might experience."

Impact Products is a manufacturer and supplier of branded and private label non-chemical commercial cleaning, maintenance, safety and related products. For more information, visit www.impact-products.com/.
