ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Humantech’s newest video featuring Ergopoint® Office Suite shows that an ergonomically designed workstation does not require extreme or expensive gimmicks. Manufacturers of treadmill workstations and exercise balls claim that their use in the office is good for your overall health and well-being. But office ergonomics is really about training your employees in how to set up an effective workstation.
Ergopoint Office Suite was developed by Humantech's team of board certified ergonomists to provide an all-in-one web-based solution for managing office ergonomics. It was designed to train employees in basic ergonomics awareness and help them self-assess their own workspace, while allowing managers to oversee the process.
When using Ergopoint Office Suite, employees first take a short online course on how to find ergonomic issues in the office workplace, and then answer a series of questions about their workstations and task requirements. The results determine if employees are at risk of developing work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Based on these results, Ergopoint generates a list of recommended workstation improvements, such as repositioning chairs or equipment to be within the appropriate distance from the user, changing lighting levels, or obtaining ergonomic equipment, such as a footrest.
Ergopoint Office Suite is customizable, allowing the manager to determine which equipment, if any, should be made available to employees. It also monitors issues and tracks improvements across multiple locations, manages the education of employees, and provides a prioritized list of employees who require immediate follow-up. In a recent survey of Ergopoint clients, only three percent of employees required a face-to-face assessment. The survey also showed that with proper training, 80 percent of users were able to completely resolve their own ergonomic issues.
