Hollis + Miller Architects: Firm to Get a New Home Beginning December 2016
Jan. 12, 2016 — Hollis + Miller announced that it will be moving to a new home in Kansas City, Mo. — Corrigan Station in the heart of the Crossroads. The project means the firm will move downtown and join its two offices into one.
Building demolition has been completed and construction is underway. The move is tentatively scheduled for the week of Dec. 1, 2016.
The firm said the organization and design revolves around its focus on inspiring learning, co-creating design with its clients and design partners, and emphasizing its purpose — empowering communities through smart, inspiring learning environments that provide a rewarding experience and a successful impact for its clients and those they serve.
The new Hollis + Miller offices will boast 10-foot-tall windows that will allow abundant natural light, coupled with 11-foot ceiling clear height and large, open floor plates. The space will feel open and collaborative. From the upper floors (8-10), Hollis + Miller will have impressive views toward the east, south, and west. The north façade will provide spectacular skyline views of downtown.
Corrigan Station, at the center of the Crossroads Arts District, offers innovative and collaborative space that attracts unique and progressive companies that appreciate the building’s working environment, amenities, and connectivity. The building is designed to achieve LEED certification.
Copaken Brooks is developer of the Corrigan Station project. As a historic renovation, Corrigan Station will showcase urban character combined with modern style. Open floor plates provide abundant natural light and the building will offer impressive amenities like a rooftop patio, coffee shop, showers, common gathering spaces, and one-of-a-kind views. Corrigan Station will also provide unmatched connectivity via the Kansas City Streetcar, which has a northbound stop immediately outside the building.
Upon completion, the project will total about 150,000 square feet, including an adjacent, newly constructed parking garage.
Hollis + Miller Architects, founded in 1950, is the longest continuously practicing architecture firm in the Greater Kansas City area. It offers masterplanning, architecture and design, interior design, structural engineering, and architectural environmental graphic design services.
