Hickory Construction: Partnership Wins Design Award for Knoxville Project

Alcoa, Tenn. — Dec. 9, 2015 — For the second year in a row, a project built by Hickory Construction, Inc. has claimed the 2015 People’s Choice Award and Members’ Choice Award from the East Tennessee Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

BARBERMcMURRY Architects won the award for its design of the Contemporary Women’s Health offices in Knoxville, which Hickory built in collaboration with the architectural firm.

Announced at AIA’s recent 2015 Design Awards Gala, the project was selected through an online voting competition that was sponsored on AIA’s website, competing against several notable projects and companies in the Knoxville area.

“We are grateful to have played a role as the construction partner for BARBERMcMURRY’s outstanding design work, honored by the AIA,” said John McMillan, Hickory’s vice president of marketing. “Great construction begins when you have architectural designs that are first-rate both aesthetically and technically — and it’s a pleasure to work with firms like BARBERMcMURRY and with clients like Contemporary Women’s Health who value the same quality that we do.”

The Contemporary Women’s Health facility will serve as a new medical office for women’s spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. The facility, at 10031 Sherrill Boulevard, opened to the public last March.
