Heery International: Firm Gives Balfour Beatty Office in Atlanta a Signature Look
Atlanta — Nov. 9, 2015 — With an imaginative design that incorporates concrete, reclaimed wood, and other construction materials, the Heery International-designed offices for Balfour Beatty Construction’s Georgia Division offer a signature look for the 80-year-old construction company.
The company's employees recently moved into the newly renovated 24,500-square-foot office in metro Atlanta’s Galleria Office Park, shgifting from that building’s 18th floor to the 15th floor.
“The renovation of these offices was an opportunity for the company to reinforce its culture and underscore its brand promise of success for employees and visitors alike,” said Steve Hart, a vice president with Heery Design and the lead designer of this project. “The message is clear: This is a forward-thinking construction firm, grounded by its history and values."
The design strikes an effective balance between the raw expression of materials used in the construction industry with sophisticated technological elements that reflect a firm delivering cutting-edge, 21st century projects.
The lobby incorporates an array of construction materials — concrete, aged metal, rebar, glass, and re-claimed wood — and features an eye-catching mural depicting construction activities in the foreground of the Atlanta skyline.
The office emphasizes glass partitions instead of solid walls to support an open culture, and features a wide array of amenities including wellness rooms, hoteling spaces, technology-ready meeting rooms, and informal gathering spaces to promote an environment where employees can collaborate easily with each other and with clients.
At every turn, the office reinforces Balfour Beatty Construction’s culture. The company’s mission statement is the first thing one sees when stepping off the elevators, and Balfour Beatty’s four areas of focus – Zero Harm, Zero Waste, Employee Inspiration, and Client Advocacy – are subtly depicted on the office’s glass walls.
