Eaton Meters Help Facility Managers, Building Owners Enhance Energy Efficiency

PITTSBURGH … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton has announced the launch of the Eaton Power Xpert Multi-Point meter, which is engineered to accurately track facility energy use.

Designed for use in multi-tenant applications including office buildings, shopping malls, industrial sites, residential complexes and universities, the meter provides property managers and building owners with a reliable, cost-effective solution for quantifying, benchmarking and allocating energy use. The meter also is designed to accurately aggregate gas, water, and steam consumption data to enable a comprehensive review of a facilities’ utility use and the development of energy savings solutions.

“With utility costs continually increasing, it is more important than ever to proactively monitor and conserve electrical energy,” said Dwayne McGrody, product manager at Eaton. “By accurately documenting utility expenditures, the Power Xpert Multi-Point meter can promote conservation among tenants and help building owners target opportunities to increase efficiency.”

The meters can be installed in new and retrofit applications and include robust commissioning tools that support accurate installation and reliable operation. The meters provide a cost-effective, scalable approach to monitor energy in assemblies or power distribution equipment with a high-density of metering points. The meters include patent-pending technology for efficient commissioning and accurate wiring.

When mounted in a panelboard or switchboard, the Power Xpert Multi-Point meter provides an integrated, scalable power distribution and energy metering solution that saves space, reduces installation labor and lowers expenses. To further simplify operation, visual indicators on the metering hardware and accompanying software provide advanced warning of potential problems before they can impact building performance.

With built-in communications capabilities, Power Xpert Multi-Point meters can integrate into a local network to enable remote meter reading and monitoring. Meter configurations are also available for seamless integration into facility and data center management platforms.

A single device can handle up to 20 three-phase or 60 single-phase circuits and is compatible with most three-phase industrial, commercial, and single-phase residential low-voltage electrical power systems.
