KíaroLED™ Precision Cutoff Keeps Neighbors Happy, School Safe
MENTOR, Ohio – EYE Lighting, a leading global manufacturer of lamps, luminaires, and related lighting products, has installed new kíaroLED luminaires at the historic Maplewood School in St. Louis, Missouri. The school, located in a residential neighborhood, recently created a new parking lot and open space in an area with homes just a few feet away.
“When we began planning our new school parking lot, we talked to the people living in nearby homes to make sure we responded to the issues important to them,” said Beth Rowland, Director of Buildings and Grounds for the school district. “They wanted a well-lit parking lot for safety and security, but at the same time did not want light glaring in their living rooms and bedrooms. And we have quite a few homes that are very close to the new lot.”
“I think the new lights are fantastic,” said Alice Hall, whose home is a mere 40 feet from the new school lot. “They are bright over on the parking area, but don’t shine in my windows at night.” The lights Ms. Hall refers to are EYE kíaroLED, specified by BRIC Partnership. “After reviewing the site with the homes right up against the school property line, we knew we had to find the luminaire with the best, sharp cutoff performance so we could restrict the light at night to where it was needed, and not trespass beyond our border,” said Todd Kuno of BRIC. “We also liked the clean and sleek design of kíaroLED, and so did the client.”
The EYE KíaroLED luminaire custom die-cast construction delivers 90% lumen maintenance at 100,000 hours of operation and design features that include tool-less entry for inspection and maintenance, field replaceable optics, LED light module, driver, surge protector, and IP66 rated electrical and optical chambers.
