Danfoss, a manufacturer of oil-free, magnetic bearing, variable speed centrifugal compressors for high-efficiency air-conditioning chillers, has been voted a Bronze Winner in the Edison Awards, a program that honors innovation and excellence in the development to new products and services. The awards were presented on April 20 at The Capitale in New York City during a ceremony attended by hundreds of senior executives from some of the world’s most innovative and recognized companies.
“Our judges recognized the Danfoss Turbocor VTT compressor as a true innovator out of the many products in its category,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards. Danfoss was recognized as part of the program’s Energy & Sustainability category.
Intended for water-cooled chillers and with capacities of 350 tons per compressor, Danfoss Turbocor VTT compressors are oil-free, variable speed, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors ideal for commercial air-conditioning or process cooling chillers reaching up to 1,000 tons or more.
Danfoss Turbocor VTT compressors were previously named the 2015 AHR Expo Product of the Year. Danfoss was also awarded in 2015 the Innovative Star of Energy Efficiency by the Alliance to Save Energy for its innovative Turbocor technology.

The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards was judged by a panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, and medical.
In addition to the Awards Gala, the annual Edison Awards program encompassed a full-day “Meet the Innovators Forum” and the “Innovators’ Showcase,” which offered guests a hands-on experience with many of the winning products.
