DC Power Distribution System Debuts

Vertiv, formerly Emerson Network Power, has introduced the NetSure 8100DB series of DC power distribution systems, bringing increased visibility and intelligent load management to telecom, data center and cable industry power infrastructure facilities. The NetSure 8100DB remotely monitors the power draw on individual breakers/fuses, identifying the equipment being used and enabling load shifts to protect sites from potential overload. Netsure 8100DB is globally available now.

The intelligent load management feature in the NetSure 8100DB is unique in the industry and lets users monitor power performance, identify distribution inefficiencies, and adjust the location of the load to optimize the facility’s power supply and avoid overload. This, in turn, enables more effective thermal management since cooling can follow the load, improving the overall efficiency of the network infrastructure.

“Today’s networks and network facilities demand the flexibility that comes with improved visibility and management capabilities, and those demands are increasing with the advent of software-defined networks,” said Scott Armul, vice president and general manager, DC power and outside plant products, for Vertiv in the Americas. “These environments are more complex than ever, becoming more distributed, and requiring scalable solutions. By enabling virtual provisioning and effective load reallocation, the NetSure 8100DB can help organizations significantly reduce operating costs and minimize risk.”

The NetSure 8100DB delivers up to 300 Amp device monitoring, a significant improvement from the industry standard of 125 Amp, and with six- and eight-panel bay sizes, it offers up to 168 breaker positions. Additionally, remote monitoring and management capabilities can reduce onsite control requirements and service calls.
