CertainTeed Roofing: Company Acquires Matterhorn Metal Roofing Brand, Expands North American Footprint

Malvern, Pa. — In response to the growing market demand for high-value metal roofing, CertainTeed recently announced its acquisition of the Matterhorn metal roofing brand from Michigan-based metal roofing manufacturer Quality Edge, Inc.

The purchase expands CertainTeed’s roofing portfolio and capability to serve distributors and contractors throughout North America with a consolidated source of asphalt shingles and metal roofing products.

CertainTeed’s expansion and acquisition are in response to the increasing popularity of metal roofing in both residential and commercial applications in recent years. Homeowners, contractors, and property owners all recognize the valuable properties of metal roofing such as wind resistance, solar reflectance, impact resistance, and long-term durability.

“CertainTeed has seen the value of Matterhorn since the beginning,” said Scott Rasmussen, president, Quality Edge. “We’re honored that CertainTeed recognizes the quality and performance of Matterhorn and we’re excited to make Matterhorn available throughout North America.”

The alliance combines CertainTeed’s strong relationships with distributors, contractors, and builders with Quality Edge’s long standing expertise in painted metal building products. For more than 25 years, Quality Edge has focused on developing and manufacturing high-grade exterior building products.

“Our collective efforts in manufacturing, product development, and marketing are expected to accelerate the acceptance of high-value metal roofing products by residential and commercial customers looking for a metal solution,” said Tom Smith, president, CertainTeed Roofing.

The Matterhorn brand offers three hyper-realistic architectural roofing profiles — Tile, Slate, and Shake — which replicate the color, shadow, and detail of their traditional counterparts while providing the increased durability of metal engineering. Available in numerous colors, including ENERGY STAR-rated options, Matterhorn complements virtually any style and addresses environmental concerns such as wind resistance, solar reflectance, impact resistance, and recyclability.
