CertainTeed Gypsum: Company and Canadian Wood Council Partner to Bring Affordable Solutions to Building Professionals
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada — July 9, 2015 — The Canadian Wood Council and CertainTeed Gypsum have teamed up to educate the building community about affordable, code-compliant wood construction solutions.
As the exclusive gypsum manufacturer and national sponsor of the Canadian Wood WORKS! program, CertainTeed Gypsum will assist the campaign to increase the use of wood and building performance in commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential construction.
“The Canadian Wood Council’s Wood WORKS! program fosters easier implementation of high performance, energy efficient building envelopes at a lower net cost,” said Morgan Waller, director of marketing for CertainTeed Gypsum - Canada. “Our partnership is the perfect forum for us to spread the word to developers and architects about smarter skins and sustainable wall assemblies during the crucial design phase of a project.”
New Canadian building codes allow for taller, four- to six-story mid-rise buildings made of wood — often an economical option that speeds construction.
CertainTeed offers several high-performance wallboard, finishing, sheathing, and insulation products that meet wood’s structural fire protection and sustainable certification requirements.
For example, CertainTeed AirRenew M2Tech Type X Indoor Air Quality drywall actively cleans the air with industry-only formaldehyde-absorbing capabilities, combined with superior moisture and mold resistance. The product is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified and has received UL Environmental Claims Validation. It is also UL Classified and ULC Listed for fire resistance in accordance with ASTM E119 (UL 263, NFPA 251, CAN/ULC-S101).
Offering a broad range of gypsum and finishing products for interior and exterior needs, CertainTeed Gypsum has served the North American building industry for more than 80 years and is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, the world’s leading producer of gypsum products.
