Cerami & Associates: Company Tapped to Reduce Noise in Healthy Office Tower
July 29, 2015 — Building technology experts Cerami & Associates, a leader in acoustics, IT, AV and security, have been engaged to help build what will be one of the country's healthiest new office buildings.
425 Park Avenue, currently under construction in New York City, will be one of the nation's first commercial office towers to be certified under the WELL Building Standard. Generating the kind of buzz once associated with the LEED sustainability standard, WELL sets guidelines focused on human health and wellness for the design and construction of buildings.
Developer L&L Holding reached out directly to Cerami & Associates in 2012, early in the planning phase for 425 Park, to begin a dialogue about acoustics and comfort for the building, which the developers want to position for high-end tenancy.
Cerami & Associates' contribution to the Foster+Partners-designed building includes reducing the noise associated with mechanical systems (each floor will have one or two dedicated air handlers), and consulting on the design of the new glass curtainwall to reduce noise penetration from outside.
The firm will also be working to ensure that future tenants enjoy a comfortable, healthy, and soothing experience whether they are working or enjoying the many planned amenities (including a high-end restaurant).
Created by the International Well Building Institute, WELL version 1.0 launched in October of last year.
