Budderfly: Company Sponsors Smart City Event

Shelton, Conn. — Sept. 8, 2015 — Budderfly, an on-demand Energy Management System with a national presence, is sponsoring an energy leadership Smart City event during the Smart Cities Week to be held Sept. 15-17 in Washington, D.C.

The Budderfly event, titled “Building a Smart City: Global and DC Metro Area Perspectives”  will be Sept. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the WeWork Wonder Bread Factory, 641 S Street, NW.

“For smart cities to evolve, buildings must become part of the smart infrastructure of the city,” said Shawn Silver, Budderfly vice president. “Our technology can provide building owners with granular visibility to improve building performance and maximize energy savings.”

Budderfly offers a unique solution that allows building managers to measure, manage, and control consumption data for any energy-consuming building load. With direct replacement outlets, light switches, and other devices, the Budderfly Energy Management System communicates consumption data and control commands over existing wiring without any modification to existing infrastructure. The system enables increased energy efficiencies and cost savings.

“The Building A Smart City event will provide a global perspective on how cities and communities are using smart systems to benefit their residents,” said Janine Finnell, founder of Leaders in Energy and co-host of the event.

A panel will explore smart city concepts and address the challenges of growing city populations with their increased demands for more resources. As a leading example of a smart city, the panel will discuss how the use of technology has helped Amsterdam in the Netherlands to maintain an attractive, sustainable environment.
