Bosch Launches Ultra-compact And Powerful DDB181 Basic-Duty Drill/Driver

Mt. Prospect, Ill. — Oct. 21, 2014 - The Bosch DDB181 packs a big punch in a small package. The lightest, most compact 18V 1/2-inch drill driver on the market, the DDB181 is the first 18V drill driver available in a 12V size, making it a must-have for professionals.

Just 7.1 inches long and weighing only 3 pounds (including the Bosch BAT611 1.5Ah battery), the DDB181 is especially effective in tight spaces. From assembly and installation applications to everyday drilling, it's a convenient and comfortable solution for all-day use.

"It may be small, but it doesn't compromise on performance," said Jim Bohn, Bosch product development director. "With a driving torque of 350 inch pounds, the DDB181 is a more powerful fastening tool than its predecessor. A more compact size means less user fatigue and ultimately increased productivity."

Featuring two speed settings and a soft grip for better ergonomics, the DDB181 also offers 350 inch pounds of maximum torque and fast drilling at 1,300 rotations per minute for both wood and metal applications.

For 18V system users, the DDB181 fills the void for a powerful, basic-duty drill/driver with a 1/2-inch chuck for all-day work.

"This is the only 18V solution for users in need of an ultra-compact 1/2-inch drill driver who want to maintain their 18V system," Bohn said. "The DDB181 comes with a 1.5Ah battery, but as part of the Flexible Power System, also works with any Bosch 18V lithium-ion battery that many users may already have as part of their cordless system."

For maximum performance in a wide variety of applications, the tool also features:

• Two speed settings - optimized torque for screw driving and speed for drilling - that are easily adjustable via a sliding switch on the top of the tool.

• A motor brake and 20 clutch settings for precise screw driving.

• A 1/2-inch tool-free auto-lock chuck.

• A variable speed trigger for accurate speed regulation.

• An LED light to illuminate dark work spaces.

• A soft grip for better ergonomics.
