Automated Roller Shade Earns Safety Certification

Hunter Douglas Architectural Window Coverings has announced that its RB 500+  systems have been certified by Underwriter Laboratories (UL), earning the UL Certified Mark.

UL is an independent, third-party safety certification organization that sets stringent standards for certain product categories and tests products to determine whether they meet those standards. The technical knowledge and scientific expertise behind the UL Mark – the single most accepted certification mark in the United States – brings peace of mind to customers and businesses that rely on safe, sustainable products.

“We are one of a very short list of manufacturers whose automated shade products are UL Certified. Included in this certification is the assembly process, as well as the facility itself,” said Nick Chiaro, General Manager, Hunter Douglas Architectural Window Coverings. “Architects and designers value the versatility and quality of the RB 500+ system. Now they can feel even more confident because of its safety and compliance profile.”

Hunter Douglas engineered the RB 500+ automated systems for the highest performance. From standard battery operated systems to intelligent wired, its extensive automation program offers ultra-quiet technology, ADA compliance, and meets all child safety standards. Integrating easily with most third party systems – including light control, HVAC, and all other forms of building management system integration – design professionals rely on the RB 500+ to solve complex shading challenges

The architectural feel combined with color coordinated components creates a modern look that doesn’t require fascia. Hundreds of fire-resistant fabrics are available in high-performance, sustainable, blackout, and acoustical options helping to maximize the energy savings that only a motorized roller shade can offer. “The entire automated assembled system, not just the motor, is UL Certified. Technical experts from UL conduct comprehensive evaluations, so authorities and our customers can trust the UL Mark meets the vast majority of electrical inspection codes enforced across the country,” noted Chiaro.
