Alerton Ascent Compass Software 1.2 Simplifies Building Automation

Redmond, Wash. — Feb. 3, 2015 — To empower building owners and operators to easily manage their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) energy consumption while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment, Alerton has released an updated version of its Ascent Compass Software.

The solution provides users a cleaner, simpler interface that reduces the steps required to optimize building systems and energy efficiency.

Introduced in 2014, Compass is a part of the Alerton Ascent building automation suite of products that monitors and controls a host of building systems, including HVAC; lighting; security/access control; fire and life safety; elevators and escalators; and others.

Compass 1.2 software features an enhanced navigation tree that enables each user, or group of users, to tailor the building automation system to only present features pertaining to their work. The interface is simpler and reduces the number of steps required to complete a task. Another feature is context-specific menus that provide relevant data and tasks wherever a user is within the system. This allows users to easily view, create, and edit alarms or any system data points controlled by Ascent. Additional enhancements include updated graphic images, controls, and views.

"This latest Compass version delivers complete user management of trend logs, alarms, and schedules, via a web browser," said Kevin Callahan, product owner and evangelist for Alerton. "User feedback on Compass has been great. For example, two facility operators with one of the largest school districts in the U.S. independently rated Compass as three times easier to use than our already simple Alerton Building Suite supervisor software."

Josh Cales, Alerton general manager, said, "We designed Compass software to reduce the time operators need to spend on the system. The increased work efficiency means building owners save staff time, while also reducing energy use and optimizing their buildings."

Founded in 1981, and a business unit of Honeywell, Alerton is a leading manufacturer and pioneer of building automation systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. Its products are used in commercial and institutional buildings throughout the world, including high-rise offices, government facilities, universities, airports, hotels, schools, and hospitals. For more information, visit www.alerton.com.
