MANN+HUMMEL presents a range of energy saving pocket filters in accordance with the new Eurovent energy rating. The A+ rated Airpocket Eco ePM10 70 percent is accompanied by the three A rated products Airpocket Pro ePM1 60 percent, Airpocket Eco ePM10 50 percent and Airpocket Eco ePM1 85 percent. The Airpocket Eco filters are certified according to the Swedish P-marking system, which provides assurance of long-term performance with regard to the degree of separation.The new filters complement MANN+HUMMEL's range of air filters for air conditioning and ventilation systems for different filter classes and energy efficiency requirements.
Since the beginning of 2019, the new Eurovent energy efficiency rating applies to air filters in air conditioning and ventilation systems that measure 592 x 592 mm. The definition is based on the ISO filter classes, such as ePM1 50 percent and an annual energy consumption in kWh/y. There are 6 energy classes from A+ to E, where A+ stands for the lowest and E stands for the highest energy consumption.
The definition is more precise than the old system according to EN779 which indicated only one energy consumption value per class. The new rating system offers 5 values for annual energy consumption specific to each ISO efficiency rating. For example, for the filter class ePM1 it indicates energy consumption for the efficiency ranges of 50 – 55 percent, 60 – 65 percent, 70 – 75 percent, 80 – 85 percent and > 90 percent. This increases the transparency of the energy consumption of the filters for air conditioning and ventilation systems and simplifies filter selection. The system allows planners and facility management companies to reduce energy costs. In order to benefit from the new system, it is crucial to choose a product strictly based on the requirements and not to over-specify the filter grade or make a selection based on purchase history. The key is to select the filter that will deliver the correct level of air cleanliness for the lowest possible energy consumption.
For the Eurovent certification of air filters, filter manufacturers have to submit test reports from laboratories for each filter. Eurovent checks the data and makes spot checks at production sites.
