AFG: Company Awarded Weaver CM Contract by GSA NCR Region
New York City — March 14, 2016 — AFG Group, Inc. (AFG), a prominent woman-owned construction program management and relocation management firm, was recently awarded a construction management contract for CM support services to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, for the Robert C. Weaver Building Fire Alarm Replacement Project in Washington, D.C.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings, the Weaver Federal Building stands out as one of the most successful buildings in GSA's inventory. In 1967, the 1,372,300-gross-square-foot, 13-story building was constructed to be the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HUD still occupies the building today and is part of the city’s Southwest Urban Renewal Plan.
As the construction manager, AFG will oversee the $11 million replacement of the outdated fire alarm system, the removal of the existing system, and the installation of a new emergency communication system to facilitate occupant notification and/or evacuation in the Weaver Building during an emergency.
AFG Group, Inc. has a national portfolio of work in healthcare, laboratories, courthouses, educational facilities, and government buildings.
