A Brighter Office Means Brighter Smiles for Salem Orthodontist

August 2013 - Dr. Reid Amborn’s orthodontic practice needed a face-lift. The building was dark, outdated and did not reflect the quality of care provided by the doctor and his staff. Dr. Amborn teamed up with Emmett Phair Construction, a local company specializing in medical and dental office construction and remodeling, to modernize the office and turn it into a warm and comfortable destination for his patients.

Emmett Phair Construction developed a plan to add floor space and volume by building out and up, creating a larger space for patient exams and a better-organized administrative area. The interior floor plan was thoughtfully rearranged and every surface was reimagined. Once completed the remodel brought the practice from a dated and claustrophobic 1500 square feet to a comfortable 2226 square feet.

The building’s original 1970’s style grey exterior was replaced with a striking red brick facade, giving it a modern commercial feel. Black industrial-inspired light and structural fixtures were installed to add to the urban style. Dense shrubbery was removed from around the property and replaced with new bark and smaller plants. The building was transformed from outdated drab to timeless modern professional.

Inside the building patients are now greeted by a custom designed reception desk made from reclaimed wood and a red brick façade wall that matches the exterior of the building. Bright windows and plush seating in the waiting area offers patients a comfortable environment to relax in. A replica of the exterior red brick façade lines a wall of the patient room. High ceilings and windows allow patients to have a view of the outside while they are being treated. Large wood paneled doors made from reclaimed barn wood, accent the area while hanging Edison-style pendant lights tie in the industrial look. Hardwood floors throughout the interior complete the urban transformation.

Conscientious of his businesses’ environmental impact, Dr. Amborn carefully selected eco-friendly materials for the remodel. The building now features double pane, low energy, and argon filled windows. Brand new equipment uses less water and energy than previous components. Reclaimed barn wood was used to construct most interior doors and the custom reception desk.

With the upgrades to his practice, Dr. Amborn is sure to see many more smiling patients in the future.
