Course Offers Insights on Applications of Tubular Daylighting
Solatube International Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs), has introduced a new AIA* CES-approved continuing education course: Inspiring Applications of Tubular Daylighting.
The course shows how architects from around the world have utilized TDDs and natural light to complement their designs to create unique and inspiring environments. TDDs also help meet health, safety, welfare and sustainability goals for buildings and their occupants.
Solatube offers this continuing education course, which earns 1 LU/HWS credit for architects, through “Lunch & Learns” where the company will come to the office, bring in lunch and present to the team.
“Using tubular daylighting devices has traditionally been thought of only as a functional way to bring natural light into building design and overcome limitations of windows and traditional skylights. However, architects are also using TDDs in unique and aesthetic ways to create eye-catching design elements,” said Robert E. Westfall Jr., president of Solatube International. “That’s why we are so excited to offer this new course that provides examples of how architects from all over the world have created visually appealing natural lighting to complement their design goals with stunning results.” Learning objectives for Inspiring Applications of Tubular Daylighting include:
Understanding how TDDs can be used as an effective daylighting strategy differently than windows and skylights.
Discovering the role TDDs can play with health, safety, and welfare of building occupants. Reviewing how TDDs can be used as a daylighting strategy for sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
Exploring how TDDs can be implemented in inspiring and innovative ways with both design and functional objectives being met.
