Toilet Wins Award for Design

Plumbing products that pack a punch don’t always get the appreciation they deserve. For American manufacturer Mansfield Plumbing Products, its tireless approach to plumbing perfection paid off when it received global recognition for a new family-focused toilet, Vanquish, with a GOOD DESIGN Award. This distinction identifies the latest, most advanced consumer products and designs for their innovation and invention. Vanquish won the prestigious award for the kitchen and bath products category.

GOOD DESIGN is the world’s most prestigious, recognized and oldest design awards program organized annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The goal of the award is to bring awareness to contemporary design, and to honor both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing.

Vanquish caught the eye of the review panel because it improves the standard toilet in three distinct ways. It uses simple yet innovative technologies that make it easy to clean and maintain for busy families. Durable side-mounted seat hinges with an unobstructed and easy-to-clean deck surface, two times the rinsing power, and a quick-wipe PuraClean® glazed surface that is bacteria resistant and sheds stains and debris are all key differentiators that set Vanquish apart from the common commode.

“At Mansfield, our charge is to help families thrive,” said Phil Cunningham, vice president of marketing. “Our designers focused on ease of use and superior functionality to address the two major challenges of today’s toilets—keeping the inside of the bowl clean and scrubbing around traditional seat hinges. The Vanquish does all of that without changing our lifelong behaviors. We’re thrilled that the Chicago Athenaeum recognized that effort and presented us with a GOOD DESIGN award.”
