High-Velocity Ceiling Fans and Occupant Comfort

Tjernlund Products has announced a new line of compact, high-velocity destratification fans, called “D-STRATTM” ceiling fans. The fans re-circulate hot air trapped in high ceiling areas and direct it to occupied levels. They reduce the typical area temperature differential of 20 degrees or more between ceiling and floor levels by at least fifty percent. The result is energy savings, extended life of HVAC equipment and improved comfort for occupants.

Unlike conventional paddle blade ceiling fans, D-STRAT fans do not have visual moving blades. High discharge velocity moves air quietly at 1.5 sones and effectively in a defined column toward the floor level.

According to Tjernlund, a D-STRAT fan costs less than 1/2 cent per hour to operate based on average U.S. electrical rates.

At an overall size of 12 x 25 inches, D-STRAT fans fit between roof trusses affording full access to upper level warehouse storage racking. A heavy-gauge swivel mount allows fan to be aimed to avoid obstructions or be directed at specific areas like work cells or wet entryway floors. Other ideal locations for the fans include warehouses, gyms, factories, auto repair shops as well as grocery and big box stores.
