Vacuum Targets Asthma, Allergy Issues

Now available from Sanitaire is its EON ALLERGEN upright vacuum (SC5505A), the first commercial upright vacuum cleaner to earn asthma & allergy friendly Certification from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) and Allergy Standards Limited’s independent program established to identify products more suitable for people with asthma and allergies.

The EON ALLERGEN upright offers an exceptional clean with a sealed HEPA system – 99.97 percent effective at capturing particles – with carpet cleaning performance backed by the highest level of Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) certification, the CRI Gold Seal of Approval. The LEED qualified EON ALLERGEN upright also cleans at 68 dBA (the equivalent to the noise level of a human conversation), allowing for quiet day cleaning to help facilities keep energy costs down and maintain their LEED certifications.

“Allergens are a serious health concern, especially in schools and health care facilities, so we’re proud to arm commercial cleaning professionals with the first certified commercial floor care product to be recognized by AAFA,” said David Parkes, Sanitaire general manager of commercial floor care. “The Sanitaire EON ALLERGEN upright represents a new standard of clean for our industry.”

The asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program utilizes an algorithm of proprietary and recognized scientific techniques to assess vacuum cleaners for their ability to reduce allergenic and irritant materials. To earn the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Mark, the EON ALLERGEN upright had to be scientifically proven to reduce exposure to asthma and allergy triggers. It was rigorously evaluated for its capability to remove allergen-containing dust, integrity of its air filtration system, airborne allergen levels during use, performance and exposure to allergens when changing the bag.

“Allergens in buildings can contribute to poor indoor air quality, so having a clean indoor environment is important to control asthma and allergy symptoms, especially in places like schools and health care facilities” says AAFA’s President and CEO Kenny Mendez. “Used in commercial environments, the CERTIFIED EON ALLERGEN upright can help reduce exposure to allergens and improve indoor air quality.”

The EON ALLERGEN upright also features a smart and effective pigtail cord to minimize repairs and need for extension cords, an extended life motor, and an onboard extension wand, upholstery brush and crevice tool, all at only two pounds weight-in-hand and 17 pounds overall.
