Thomas & Betts provides new Web analysis for 2017 NEC

Thomas & Betts (T&B), a member of the ABB Group, has provided a new Web guide analysis of changes to the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC) that affect T&B, ABB and Baldor products.

The Web analysis guides users in the selection of T&B and ABB products that comply with this year’s changes to the NEC. The T&B guide to the 2017 NEC is available at https://www-public.tnb.com/p/nec/.

“The online T&B guide to the 2017 NEC compiles our analyses of code changes that have affected T&B, ABB and Baldor products,” said David Kendall, director ofindustry affairs for installation products at ABB. “The online analysis is a training resource for T&B/ABB personnel, end users, specifiers, inspectors and distributors, as well as a tool for the training of electrical apprentices.”

Among the organizations that T&B assists with apprenticeship programs are the Electrical Training Alliance (etA), National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC).

The online T&B guide includes links to the website of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) for a complete analysis of the 2017 NEC, to the website of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for state-by-state information about the adoption of the NEC and to the website of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to purchase the print version of the 2017 NEC. The T&B NEC site also includes a search by application, such as residential, industrial/commercial and utilities, among others.

Among the new NEC articles available with T&B’s online analysis are Article 425: Fixed Resistance and Electrode Industrial Process Heating Equipment, Article 691: Large-Scale Photovoltaic (PV) Power Production Facility and Article 706: Energy Storage Systems. Each article links to a separate page that includes an analysis of the change, the pertinent T&B/ABB products and links to related information.

Other features of T&B’s online 2017 NEC analysis include iPad and mobile phone accessibility, individual code analysis spread sheets, PDF download of individual analyses with QR code to return to the analysis Web page, and contact links for additional support.
