Volvo Penta has become an OEM supplier of diesel engines to Gillette Generators for its range of emergency standby generators.
Gillette started installing the Volvo Penta 13-liter and 16-liter diesels in its 250-600 kW generator systems earlier this year, and reports a high level of customer satisfaction with the products.
Founded in the 1960s, Gillette manufactures portable and standby generators for commercial, military, institutional, agricultural, industrial and residential markets. Gillette’s natural gas, LPG and diesel-fueled generators are produced in Elkhart, Ind., and are distributed across North America through a network of independent power generation dealers.
“We decided to offer the Volvo Penta-powered gensets as an option after extensive research, and delivered the first system in May,” said Charlie Habic, president of Gillette Generators and president-elect of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA). “At Gillette, we are a mid-sized supplier competing in a world of corporate heavyweights, and Volvo Penta brought us a competitively valued package that is an effortless drop-in replacement for our existing engines. Volvo Penta is a well-respected brand name and its products are backed by world-class engineering and service.”

Gillette will showcase its lineup of generators, including those powered by Volvo Penta, in booth 3436 at PowerGen International 2016 this week.
