Sherwin-Williams: Dura-Plate 301W Coating Wins Royal Seal of Approval

Cleveland, Ohio — May 10, 2016 — A breakthrough product from world-class coatings manufacturer Sherwin-Williams has earned the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2016 for its ability to extend coating seasons, enhance efficiencies, and reduce overall project costs.

Dura-Plate 301W, a coating from from Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), has unique surface, humidity, and temperature-tolerant properties designed to protect assets in the harshest of environments. Its low-temperature application capabilities provide a longer coating calendar for maintenance and construction activities in a variety of markets.

“This award is testament to the whole team, the truly innovative nature of this product, and how it was conceived and developed to meet a specific gap in the market,” said Ian Walker, managing director, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings EMEA.

The cost of maintenance downtime has long been an issue in many markets, with shortened seasons for coating depending on how low temperatures fall in winter. Working with key customers, the Sherwin-Williams technical team expanded the low-temperature capabilities and recoatability of the Dura-Plate 301 surface and humidity-tolerant epoxy technology. These properties extend coating application windows for offshore, marine, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
