Atlanta — April 28, 2016 — Winter Construction is preparing to build a new seven-story boutique hotel in Savannah, Ga. The new hotel, developed by RBHD and owned by Rockbridge, will span an entire city block in the historic River Street district.
The hotel will have seven stories, 173 rooms, and 162,000 square feet. The demolition of an existing building on the property will make way for the new hotel.
The hotel’s layout includes two levels of parking, five levels of guest rooms, a fitness area, meeting space, a pool, a lobby bar, a restaurant on River Street, and a rooftop event space and bar.
The architect is Gunn Meyerhoff Shay, and the interior designers are FODA and Parts & Labor.
Winter Construction recently completed a major addition to Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga., and is currently building the AC Hotel in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood. Winter is also building the Hampton Inn & Suites in Dunwoody, Ga., the Residence Inn in Dunwoody, Ga., and the SpringHill Suites in Orange Beach, Ala.
RBHD is a development and construction management company that uses nearly 60 years of hotel development experience and deep industry knowledge to identify and mitigate development and construction-related risks on complex hotel projects and manage such projects from conception to completion.
Rockbridge is an investment platform with nearly two decades of experience investing in real estate and operating companies. It has made over 200 investments in 38 states and is currently ranked the 14th largest hotel owner and developer in the U.S. Rockbridge has not yet disclosed the name of the new hotel.
The Historic District of Savannah is known for cobblestone streets, manicured gardens, and oak-shaded parks. It is the largest National Historic Landmark District in the United States.
The Savannah Historic District Board of Review approved the hotel development. Hotel completion is planned for October 2017.
