Oklahoma City, Okla. — Dec. 8, 2015 — SolaRight Lighting is honored to be working this month with the Sustainable Heroes organization, led by celebrity landscaper Ahmed Hassan, on the Aster Gardens Charity Project for Interfaith Community Services in Escondido, Calif., right in time for the holidays.
Several donors, volunteers, and a dedicated team transformed an outdoor space into transitional housing and a space of peacefulness for those in need of a second chance.
The project contains 60 apartments that will house 200 women, families, adults with disabilities, and veterans who need a chance to get back on their feet. Aster Gardens includes living space, a communal area with a playground, and gathering space as well as a foodscape garden.
“We are so appreciative of Solaright’s contribution to help make the Aster Garden Project become a reality,” said Tylee Sewell, of Sustainable Heroes. “You never know how an act of kindness can affect a person’s life and their perception of the human experience."
Aster Gardens is one of many projects that Interfaith Community Services has partnered with in order to address the needs of low-income, seniors, homeless people, and undeserved people. Their mission is to offer various programs on food, shelters, housing, social services addiction recovery, and much more. To date the organization has served more than 19,000 people in California.
The Sustainable Heroes Team, led by Ahmed Hassan, the former host of the DIY Network show Yard Crashers, worked countless hours to provide a serene space for those trying to better themselves.
