HJKessler Associates: Company Named LEED Proven Provider by Green Building Certification Institute

Chicago — Oct. 8, 2015 — HJKessler Associates, Inc. announced that the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) has designated the company a LEED Proven Provider for the Building Design and Construction rating system family (LEED New Construction, Schools, Core and Shell).

This designation was developed to streamline the LEED project review process for experienced organizations that demonstrate consistent excellence in administering LEED projects.

“Quality is at the core of the LEED certification process, and HJKessler Associates has exhibited expertise in helping to bring healthy, high-performing buildings to the market,” said Doug Gatlin, vice president of program delivery, USGBC and GBCI. “The LEED Proven Provider model represents a great partnership between HJKessler Associates and GBCI, because it allows GBCI to maintain a rigorous certification program and gives HJKessler Associates the opportunity to deliver LEED projects to its clients faster.”

LEED Proven Provider is designed to encourage and reward high-quality LEED project submissions to minimize the need for additional work during the project-review process. It represents an opportunity for HJKessler Associates and LEED reviewers to work together to enhance the LEED certification experience. It simultaneously allows HJKessler Associates to further invest in quality control and continuous improvement and provides LEED reviewers more opportunities for direct engagement with and support for project teams.

Recently certified LEED projects from HJKessler Associates include:

• Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy, a 200,000-square-foot Chicago public high school, certified LEED Platinum.

• University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign Bousfield Hall, a new residence hall, certified LEED Platinum.

• Virgin Hotel Chicago, a gut rehab of an existing historic office building and Virgin’s first hotel, certified LEED Gold.

• University of Chicago Lab Schools Earl Shapiro Hall, a new early-childhood school, certified LEED Silver.

HJKessler Associates' goal is always to encourage and facilitate an integrative approach to design and to encourage teams to meet and exceed LEED requirements. The company has worked on over 70 LEED projects in various roles, leading the design and construction teams to develop more sustainable projects.
