Camas, Wash. — March 25, 2015 — Sharp Electronics Corp.'s Energy Systems and Services Group unveiled its behind-the-meter SmartStorage system designed to reduce expensive peak demand charges for commercial and industrial (C&I) buildings.
Peak demand charges are the fastest growing part of utility bills for C&I customers and can represent up to 50 percent of a company’s monthly utility bill.
The SmartStorage system combines Sharp’s intelligent energy management system with cutting-edge
hardware, operating seamlessly as a stand-alone solution or when deployed along with a solar electric system. The system employs sophisticated, predictive analytics and controls to manage the release of this energy from the battery, resulting in high performance, high system efficiency, and world-class reliability.
Backed by Sharp Electronics Corp., the SmartStorage energy storage system is available with an
optional 10-year Asset Management Service Agreement providing all routine and unscheduled maintenance coupled with a 10-year performance guarantee. If guaranteed performance is not met, Sharp will compensate for the deficit in promised peak demand reductions.
The SmartStorage system has been rigorously tested for safety, meeting strict standards for UL1973,
UL1642, and UL1741, and has been the subject of more than 18 months of Sharp-based testing with robust results.
Sharp is collaborating with California-based project development allies as it rolls out the SmartStorage energy storage system to business owners throughout the state with further U.S. expansion in 2015.
